Learning guitar from zero is
hard, but it doesn't have to be.

Many adult beginners struggle to stay motivated when practicing alone. It’s easy to get stuck, feel unsure of what to focus on, or simply give up after a few weeks.

That’s why group lessons work!

In a small, supportive class, you’ll learn with other beginners who share your goals, and get better together as a team. You’ll play real songs, support each other, and stay inspired every week.

Perform as a group at recitals twice a year

Students feel they would like to perform the guitar on stage, but find doing so by themselves rather daunting.  Performing with a group gives students a sense of encouragement and camaraderie among other students.

Performing as a group also creates the atmosphere as a band and collective to enjoy performance with a fuller overall sound.

Class Contents

Group lessons are split into three main sections, and follow this flow.

Setup & Tune-Up (5 min)
Get comfortable, tune up, and warm up your hands.

â‘  Reading Music Notation & Simple Melodies (15 min, using Hal Leonard Textbook)
Start each class by learning to read simple music while playing short melodies.
This helps develop finger dexterity and prepares you for playing larger chords and songs later on.

â‘¡ OGS Basics (15 min)
Work through the OGS Basics textbook, Ontario Guitar Studio’s original curriculum.
You’ll learn essential chords, scales, rhythm patterns, and even light improvisation skills.

â‘¢ Customized Song (15 min)
End the class with a popular song chosen based on the group’s level and interests.
This section is fully customized so you can go home practicing something you actually want to play.

Wrap-Up (5 min)
Review what you learned and get quick tips for home practice.

Total 55 minutes
